436.The Retardmaxxing Guide
—Retardmaxxing: internet slang for deliberately switching off the overthinking and the fear of looking stupid, and just acting.
1. Start before you’re ready.
Readiness is a feeling, not a state, and it never arrives on schedule. The plan you’d make after another week of research is barely better than the one you have now. Begin, and let the work tell you what you got wrong.
2. Ship it ugly.
A rough version in the world beats a polished version in your head. Perfection is just fear wearing a nicer jacket. Put it out, see what sticks, fix what doesn’t.
3. Ignore the audience.
Nobody is watching as closely as you think, and the few who are will forget by Tuesday. Fear of looking stupid is the most expensive tax you’ll ever pay. Stop paying it.
4. Iterate, don’t deliberate.
Ten fast attempts teach you more than one perfect plan. Thinking is cheap until it replaces doing, and then it costs you everything. Do, look, adjust, repeat.
5. Know when not to.
Some doors only open one way: marriage, mortgages, equity splits, anything with a signature. For these, think hard, then think again. Retardmaxx the reversible; be very smart about the irreversible.
